Your Viaduct environment is usually safely ensconced on our private network and inaccessible from the outside world. However, there are times when you need direct access to certain components of your infrastructure and if that sounds like something you'd need, you're in luck.

We've just deployed our port forwarding and external access system which allows you to expose your dedicated databases or processes on an external IP address on a dedicated port.

For example, if you wanted direct access to your MySQL database you can simply enable it and you'll be provided with an IP address & port number which can be used to connect to the server.

To get started with this, just head over to a production database or a choose a process type and click on 'Enable External Access' from the right column

See this video for a quick demo of how easy it is to manage a MySQL database remotely.
